The four major Fashion Capitals are known for having very different vibes at Fashion Week. New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion Week just finished, after an array of designers, whether it is the up and coming or the big names showcased their Spring/ Summer 2010’s collections. I thought I would show you some of my favourite bits from Fashion Week.

New York
I love the use of monochrome at the Alice Temperley show this season. And the Top Hat's seen in some of the looks of the collection were so unexpected yet worked so brilliantly with the black and white outfits. Not sure how many women we will see around next season though wearing a top hat in the summer sun!

Anna Sui

Anna Sui mixed florals, plaids, patchwork, and metallics, but kept to a very simple colour scheme this season unlike her past seasons and a lot of purple and turquoise was seen along with a few monochrome looks similar to Alice Temperley. She had a circus vibe through the collection and opened the show with a model wearing a major capelet and hat. There definitely seems to be a thing for hats for next summer!

Betsey Johnson

Fun, Flirtatious, eccentric, frilly, rainbow coloured and down right mental! A usual scene at the Betsey Johnson show! I love how Betsey isn’t afraid to be different because often the rest of the Shows at NY Fashion week tend to be quite reserved but Betsey can challenge the new artsy designers of LFW, a complete opposite to the Ralph Lauren show and she’s been showcasing her collections for a pretty long time in NY too!

London Fashion Week

Erdem

I love Erdem’s collections each season and I’m not the only one, he’s even attracted the attention of Anna Wintour the fashion editor of American Vogue who should not be messed with! I love his use of florals, and how he’s just able to create that perfect girly girl dress.

Danielle Scutt

Now this is definitely an extreme hair do! I wonder how long it took to create!? I just love how it adds to the quirkiness of the show... I doubt I will be able to pull that hair- do off though! Fluffy skirts, lots of pink and peach, sweetheart necklines in contrast to the eighties feel sharp shoulders and angular shapes. I love how girly Danielle has gone this season but managed to still keep the edge.

Burberry Prorsum

Burberry Prorsum was shown at London Fashion Week this season to celebrate 25 years of London Fashion Week, and wasn’t it just a pretty show! Christopher Bailey’s designs were ultra feminine he used a lot of pale colours and twisted, chiffon mini dresses perfectly around the body. And of course the key Burberry staple, the trench coat was incorporated into the collection. I think this was one of Burberry’s best collections and what a return Christopher Bailey made for Burberry at London Fashion Week.

Milan Fashion Week

Raf Simon’s of Jil Sander is known for creating designs that are traditional and safe but this season his collection was something different. Sheer dresses with scraps of materials covering the essential areas, and a foil turquoise dress were some of his key looks. The collection featured a lot of sheer materials but was beautifully constructed to a high quality and I preferred this season to his collections of previous seasons.

Francesco Scognamiglio

Francesco definitely spiced up Milan Fashion Week, hitting the limits and definitely designing an unusual collection for summer. Featuring fish net tights, and long floor length dresses, neither of these would I say were the typical summer attire, but it certainly got him noticed. With the help of Philip Treacy, metal star headwear and barely covering the nipple plate also featured. I did like the collection just not sure how this is quite a suitable spring/summer collection....then again it’s not exactly winter either!

Dolce & Gabbana

Orange Florals, mesh materials, romper suits and short shorts all featured in the Dolce and Gabbana collection. I loved the shorts short they were so cute especially in the floral material that clinched in the waist. There wasn’t anything extremely outrageous but Milan Fashion Week usually doesn’t interest me as much as the other fashion weeks.

Paris Fashion Week

Now aren’t these just pretty amazing shoes! I suspect there may have been a few unstable feeling models in those, but I do just love them! At the Alexander McQueen show he definitely put on a pretty impressive show, there was a lot of snake print used, and the closing embellished outfit was just stunning. I don’t think anyone could say that was a dress that didn’t have enough sparkle to it... ;)

Chanel

For spring/ summer 2010 Karl Lagerfeld built a barn in the middle of the Grand Palais for his models to show off yet another one of his beautiful collections. The looks weren’t too over the top they just were styled and put together to perfection. Ever feminine, especially the little blue dress with red flowers; I also loved the Grecian style black and white dress with the use of sheer black material. Oh, and of course who could forget the surprise performance at the end from Lily Allen.

Louis Vuitton

So I wasn’t that crazy about the Louis Vuitton show for Spring/ Summer 2010 collection as I was about the Autumn/ Winter 09 collection, but I was crazy about the hair. Afro’s of all different colours distracted my attention straight away from some of the mish-mashed designs. The afros’ from the Louis Vuitton show were definitely one of my favourite things from Paris Fashion Week
